Robertson Hill Associates Director Liam Hill had the privilege of attending the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB)’s exclusive site visit to the landmark city centre developments at Pilgrim Place, Newcastle

New Offices on the Block

This area of Newcastle has undergone significant regeneration in recent years, including the demolition of the infamous Odeon Cinema and the eight-storey brutalist office block Commercial Union House, the refurbishment of the art deco Grade II listed Carliol House, and the construction of the North East’s new HMRC headquarters in their place. Now, the transformation of this block nears completion with the addition of the new state-of-the-art workspaces at Pilgrim Place in Newcastle city centre.

Pilgrim Place comprises two Grade A office blocks located in the heart of Newcastle, the construction of which forms a key part of the city’s wider regeneration. The first, Pilgrim Place 1, will be occupied by the Department for Work and Pensions as their new Newcastle city centre headquarters, with the second to be leased on a floor by floor basis.
